Virtual Combat Cards 1.0.0 is out!
We are very proud to announce the release of Virtual Combat Cards Version 1.0.0! This version is the first to encompass all of the goals originally set out when we started this journey. It now allows the DM to focus on the key aspects of the game, providing invaluable information directly on his screen (namely the full combat card for each combatant).
This is the result of a lot of work and includes some wonderful new features:
- The ability to import monsters from the D&D Insider compendium website;
- The ability to use and re-use imported and user-created monsters again and again in a new Virtual Combat Cards compendium library;
- A Firefox plug-in that enables the capture of monsters from the D&D Insider compendium website;
- The stat-blocks for imported monsters are identical to the stat-blocks on the Wizards website and in the books (ie, they look great!);
- A new log and error system that will help us iron out any future bugs and issues;
- A strongly built, high quality, multi-platform design that you can rely on to help you game.
This version is an important milestone in the project. We are proud of the solid foundation we have built and enthusiastic about many new features to come in the immediate and long-term future of this project, many of which are driven by the requests from our fans. All of which will, in their own time, help to make Virtual Combat Cards the most useful, feature rich, and user friendly combat tracker out there for D&D4E. As always, we welcome user feedback and participation on the forum on this site.
Visit our download page or use the Help > Check for updates menu on you VCC to get this new update. Please review the release note for this version to view changes and other import information for migration.
We hope you enjoy the new features.
Thanks for your support!
The Virtual Combat Cards team.
Important post script: the files in sample-compendium should not have been shipped. You can delete the directory. Trying to lead these files will produce no error message.

Problems!!
Dear Ex Nebula Teamwork
Your work is really great, but I have problems: I can`t load my party and monsters in VCC 1.0.0 (windows).
Thanks a lot!
Issue found..
Via email I got some feedback on this issue from sauceverde. He said:
1. I Download VCC 1.0.0 version (http://www.exnebula.org/vcc/download)
2. I opened vcc-1-1.0.0 folder
3. Double clik on "vcc" (windows vista)
4. I did clik on file-load party-sample compendium-pc-aramil-3.xml
5. Nothing happens.
As I suspected he was accessing a file that was not in the correct format and nothing happened (as reported in #131: Loading Party files from previous version does nothing). This will be fixed on the next release.
I'm adding an observation on the release note.
Can you open an issue.
That's strange indeed, we tested this many times. Here are some things to consider:
java -Dvcc.debug=1 -jar vccrun.jar. This will dump a lot of information to the screen and the log files.If you are not in any of these cases, I would ask you to open an bug report. And please include you log files (
vcc.logandlaunch.log).Added a report for the known issue
Issue #131: Loading Party files from previous version does nothing is to handle problems with previous version files.
