This version fixes several problem in the D&D Insider capture logic (issue #145: Fail to capture some monster). Some entries are misformed on the online compendium. In those cases VCC would fail to capture valid data. The new logic has been cleanup and will capture the monsters that caused problems. This includes version includes some changes to the import logic to support future capture of other entries.

There is a change to where VCC stores raw captured data. The previous version stored captured information temporary directory. The new version stores data in the VCC Base Directory. This means that data captured on previous versions will not be seem. Users must move the files from the temporary directory to the new <VCC Base>/dndicache/monster directory. As an alternative you can recapture the monsters.

Updating OS X install?

I tried updating an OS X 1.1 install using the Help|Check for updates. It found the update and installed it (and it has a different vcc.jar file as it grew from 1.8 to 2.0 MB).

However when I run VCC, the about still shows version 1.1 (not 1.1.1), I still see all of my monsters in the compendium (I was expecting to not see them since I have did not move any of the files) and I'm still having trouble capturing DDI monsters.

Is the 1.0 to 1.1 update process having issues? Or perhaps there are still problems capturing monsters?

Specifically I was trying to capture the Chimera, it generates an error trying to write out an xml file. I took a look at the HTML DDI was generating and noticed there are a bunch of non-breaking spaces. I removed the non-breaking spaces and was then able to paste the Chimera HTML into VCC directly.

As an update to my own post

As an update to my own post while the about box shows version 1.1 the version displayed in the lower left is 1.1.1.

So I'm assuming that the update worked and my problem is that 1.1.1 does not cope well with the non-breaking spaces. In which case there are still bugs with the capture process. :)

Can you open an issue?

I would like to know what monster is causing the problem. Either the name or the URL to the monster. I'll investigate and see if we can fix it.
