We are proud to announce the latest Virtual Combat Cards upgrade, version 1.4.0. The focus of this release was the D&D Insider capture feature. This new version makes capturing much simpler: we can now capture monsters in old and new format, traps, and any creature that you have not yet captures will be automatically added to you repository.
This version includes the following improvements:
- We now support both legacy and the new Monster Manual stat blocks. Internally we have added logic which should eventually enable the tracking of power usages.
- We can now import traps; the new logic captures the traps stat blocks and the initiative, level, XP, and role information. Since traps vary a lot we chose the simplest approach, so users may have to adjusts information like hit points and defenses for those traps that have them.
- If you capture a creature that is not in your compendium, VCC will add it automatically; this eliminates the manual step of previous versions.
- Party editor now calculates the encounter level, based on the number of party members; no need to look-up tables.
- All views of captured entries now have a level filter, so you can select monster only in a certain level range.
- Stat Block are now generated using a file as template, so they can be change by users. Please observe that updates will replace templates.
- With this new release we are releasing a new version of the D&D Insider plugin. It now can capture any creature you open automatically, and will show if VCC managed to capture the creature or not.
You can see a full list of issues tackled by this version. To update use the Help -> Check for Update... in Virtual Combat Cards menu.
We are really happy with these new improvements. Next version will address remainder for the Dungeon Master of several checks at the end of rounds (save-ends, ongoing damage etc).
