Virtual Combat Cards is combat tracker for D&D 4th Edition. It tracks initiative, health and effects. This page is just a holder for the release and bug reports.

This application is written in Scala and runs on Sun Java version 1.6.0 on Windows, Linux and Mac (see note), but should run on other platforms as well. Most Windows machines will have it installed. You can get it here Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11

The software is distributed in two format:

Full Install

Is a complete version of VCC, it contains all you need to start (expect for the Java). It must be installed as follows:

1. Download the program using the links below;
2. Unzip it to a directory of your choice (this will become your application directory);
3. Go to the directory and run VCC.bat (on windows) or vcc.sh (on linux)

 

Patch Install

Are patches to an installed VCC, it requires a previous full install. You must have downloaded and started VCC once prior to updating

Version 0.95.0 includes an update manager, so to update VCC all you need is to select Help > Check for Updates... and it will check for new updates, download and prepare for installation.

If the download fails or you are having problems, the manual installations is done as follows:

1. Download the patch using the links below;
2. Unzip it to the directory you installed the full install version (on windows you will be asked to confirm the overwrite of some files, this is correct);
3. Go to the directory and run VCC.bat (on windows) or vcc.sh (on linux)

Beside the main release versions there are two other components:

Mac OS X Application Bundle

Starting on version 1.1.0 we have create a native Application Bundle, download this DMG Package. You can run from the DMG or install it. For future releases use the Help > Check for Updates.... For versions prior to 1.1.0 you need to follow this installation procedure.

Mac OS Bundle for Version 1.1.0 (will upgrade to latest version)

Firefox Plug-in

VCC (as of version 1.0) can capture information from the D&D Insider Compendium website, to do this you will need to use Firefox and download a VCC Plug-in. Please read the important notice on the plug-in page.
